The Mandarin’s Goodwood Festival Racecard for Thursday 28th July

Coral Kincsem Handicap 1.50
Warren Point
Charlie Appleby’s colt from the Dubawi production line has made a fine start to his racing career, with a brace of wins at Newmarket and Doncaster backed up with a runners-up spot last time out at Ascot. Surely there’s more to come back at 10 furlongs. In the mix

Richmond Stakes (Group 2) 2.25
Looked one out of the top drawer when impressively finding the gaps at Newbury to land a Listed contest last time out, and should have even more to offer granted a clear run. Trainer Andrew Balding’s in fine form, and William Buick returns in the saddle – lots to like

John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3) 3.00
Hoo Ya Mal (nap)
He caused a huge surprise when runner-up in The Derby, from way outside of the main market at 150/1. That brought about a hefty fee to take him from Andrew Balding’s yard to George Boughey’s in-form stable, and he’s not reached his ceiling yet. In good hands with Ryan Moore booked for the trip, and eased in grade, has to be feared

Qatar Nassau Stakes (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) 3.35
Nashwa (nb)
Given here for the Prix de Diane where she showed her third in The Oaks was no fluke, and with it gave Hollie Doyle a deserved first win in a French Classic for a female Jockey. There’s no doubt that in this Sport of Kings, the playing field is level in the saddle, and we’ll hope that Hollie Doyle can add to her growing reputation with another Group 1 win here. Nashwa is a Frankel filly going to the very top of the tree, and surely can’t be far away in receipt of 9lbs from her main rivals, Lilac Road and Dreamloper

Jaeger-Lecoultre Nursery 4.10
True Statesman
Mark Johnston is as usual all over Goodwood, so with the notable booking of Ryan Moore for his Churchill colt, looks to be in pole position for this Nursery. With wins on the all-weather at Chelmsford City, and a debut turf success at Chester, he lines up here on a hat-trick. This trip of seven furlongs looks ideal, and he’s sure to go close

World Pool Handicap 4.45
He’s been highly tried and remarkably, this is his twenty-first race under rules, but George Boughey’s gelding still has something to offer at this level. Quite possible that he can defy top weight to land this, and William Buick returns to the saddle to see him home

Tatler EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes 5.20
Daydream Dancer
The chance is taken on the well related debutante, Daydream Dancer. Ralph Beckett will have her well readied for her first run under rules, and Danny Tudhope will have his work cut out to get across from stall 14. A pretty open race to close day three, but Daydream Dancer could have a say at a super each way price
