The Mandarin’s Newmarket Racecard for Saturday 25th September

Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies’ Stakes 1.15
Stellar Queen
Clive Cox’s filly was runner-up here four weeks ago when an unfancied 16/1 and can go one better this time around. Hollie Doyle returns to the driver’s seat and she’s at the top of her game just now, every chance

Juddemonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2) 1.50
Royal Patronage
It is probably best to side with Mark Johnston’s Wootton Bassett colt, who has made a smooth step up to Pattern company, taking the Acomb Stakes at York last month without seeing another rival. He was the rank outsider in a pretty useful looking line up there but will be a much shorter price here. Should be on the premises

Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1) 2.25
Sacred Bridge (nap)
It would be fitting if Juddmonte saw their colours in the winners’ enclosure, for this meeting under their sponsorship, and Irish raider Sacred Bridge is surely their best chance of the famous pink and green silks featuring on this card. Ismail Mohammed runs the main threat in the smart Zain Claudette, with recent scorer Flotus also likely to be in the mix

Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes (Group 1) 3.00
Perfect Power
Richard Fahey’s Perfect Power has only had one blot on the copybook in his turf career, and can be excused that fifth place from seven runners at Goodwood when unable to get a clear passage. Otherwise, he has proven himself at the highest level, securing the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Prix Morny at Deauville last month. Has to be respected in the top two year old six furlong race of the season on these shores

bet365 Cambridgeshire Handicap 3.40
Magical Morning (nb)
As always the Cambridgeshire is a red hot race, but John and Thady Gosden’s Magical Morning is proven in big field handicaps, as he showed in the Coral Challenge at Sandown back in July. He also put in a good shift at the Ebor Festival to chase home Cruyff Turn despite being 9lbs worse off, and might just have one more big run in him this year. Frankie Dettori is back in the saddle, so Magical Morning looks a solid each way bet for anyone’s money

Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies’ Stakes 4.15
Thanks Monica
It may pay to follow Frankie once more and Thanks Monica has the course experience under her belt after a decent enough fourth spot here last month. Trainer Ralph Beckett is picking up plenty of winners at this stage in the season and Thanks Monica surely has more to come, interesting

British Stallion Studs EBF ‘Jersey Lily’ Fillies’ Nursery 4.50
Dubai Jewel
A chance is taken on Andrew Balding’s Dubai Jewel who needs to see out this extra furlong having been raced over six furlongs in her last four starts. However, she’s going the right way and these are calmer waters than the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes when she was last trackside, leading for a long way but fading into a two length fifth in the final furlong. If she can see out the trip there’s a good chance she’ll be in the thick of things at the business end, solid each way claims

Sue Human Celebration Handicap 5.24
Fox Champion
A beaten favourite last time out, Ralph Beckett’s Kodiac gelding can bounce back under the excellent Rossa Ryan, and might benefit from a more prominent ride. He ran well in a heritage handicap at York’s Ebor meeting, and this looks a whole lot easier, go close
