The Mandarin’s Sunday Selections from Worcester, Pontefract, Hexham & Chantilly

Neu-Servo Electronic Repair Handicap Chase 2.00
La Domaniale
Just a couple of placed efforts over timber, but showed her true game is over fences, winning with plenty to spare at Uttoxeter earlier this month. She showed good ability over the bigger obstacles, despite a tendency to jump left, and should be even better for that first win under rules. Very much the one to beat, with Jonjo O’Neill Jr on the reins just adding to the appeal

Neu-Servo Cancer Research Handicap Hurdle 3.35
A good duel is in store between the Skelton teams’ Percy’s Word, and Miranda from Champion Trainer Paul Nicholls Ditcheat yard. The nod goes to Miranda, who is a class act on her day, and will have less on her plate here than in the Imperial Cup at Sandown Park last time out over hurdles. She’s since had a spin on the flat at Haydock Park to freshen her up for this, and can afford to give lumps of weight away to Percy’s Word

Sky Bet Sunday Series Handicap 4.15
Love Is Golden
Mark Johnston holds the key to this race with Mackenzie Rose and Love Is Golden, with the latter our selection. The Golden Horn colt was dropped into a Class 4 at Chester last week and showed plenty of toe to finish runner-up from the rear of the field. More than capable of winning in this grade, and the one to follow

Sky Bet Sunday Series Pontefract Castle Fillies’ Stakes (Listed) (Fillies) 4.45
Bartzella (nb)
Lining up in the Anthony Oppenheimer silks that graced her brilliant sire, Golden Horn, winner of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe back in 2015, Bartzella has to be the one to beat in this Listed Fillies’ Stakes. Danny Tudhope is at the top of his game after starring at Royal Ascot this week, so lots to like, and easy to back with the Somerfield Lodge yard in superlative form

Sky Bet Sunday Series Pontefract Cup Handicap 5.15
An interesting runner from Nick Gifford who’s better known as a hurdler, but has been pitched into a couple of flat races this year, both on fast ground at Goodwood and on the all-weather. This trip is right up his street, and he’s fancied to go very close from a giveaway mark. Super each way claims at the least

First-Class Catering From Falcons Events Novices’ Chase 1.45
Nero Rock
He tried to make all here last week when just running out of steam from two out, so this drop back in trip should make life easier. That said, this is a quick turnaround, but with just the one rival to take on in this match, very hard to see any other outcome. More than likely to win, but at a paltry price

Prix Paul de Moussac Longines (Group 3) 12.30
Andre Fabre’s charge was third in the French 2,000 Guineas, the Poule d’Essai des Poulains, so is the form pick lining up here. This should be a formality, with a price to match, but the main threat is likely to be Erevann, who looks one going the right way after a battling win at Saint-Cloud back in March. Tribalist to prevail, at very short odds

Prix de Diane Longines (Group 1) (Fillies) 3.00
Nashwa (nap)
The feature on Sunday’s card can go to English raider, Nashwa, with the excellent Hollie Doyle sent over on a foreign mission to bring back the silverware, along with a hefty prize pot. She lines up in stall 2, right next door to main danger, Agave, so that’s where the pace is sure to come from, as they try to hold the rail. Time has shown that the Frankel fillies have always reached the top of their game earlier than the colts, so Nashwa has to be the one to follow in her Classic season
