The Mandarin’s Sunday Selections from Listowel & Plumpton

Kerry Group 3-Y-O Hurdle 1.30
Too Bright
It may pay to side with Noel Meade’s youngster who has been generally progressive this year, finally getting his head in front at Roscommon on the flat last month but creating even more of an impression with a cosy win over timber at Ballinrobe, despite fluffing the first hurdle. He should come on for that run and is respected

Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Hurdle 2.00
Andrew Slattery’s mare arrives here on a hat-trick after wins at Kilbeggan and Limerick, and there’s every reason to believe that the good spell can continue with similar conditions here. Sean Flanagan takes up the reins here and there’s no safer pair of hands – big shout

Strings & Things Rated Novice Chase 4.00
Still a maiden over fences after three outings over the bigger obstacles, but his last run at Killarney, where he was not beaten much by an odds-on shot from Joseph O’Brien’s powerful yard gave hope that his turn is near. He gets a lump of weight from the main threat, Grange Walk, and the race looks between the two of them

Kerry Group Chase 4.30
Easy Game (nap)
There are only the three runners but a great race in store. The Storyteller is a high class hurdler who is also effective over fences, but might prefer to be running at a three mile trip these days, while the opposite is true of Ballyoisin, whose best form is at a bare two miles. This trip, two and a half miles, is just about perfect for Easy Game, so Willie Mullins’ charge gets the vote in a fascinating contest

Friends & Family Remembering Norman Sharpe Handicap Hurdle 2.40
Manor Park
He has had a great summer, scoring three times over timber, and also won on the flat at Bath last month, showing plenty of pace. He can put that to good use here and Patrick Cowley’s claim somewhat offsets the handicapper’s attentions. Another good run expected

Sky Sports Racing Open NH Flat Race 5.10
Strensham Court (nb)
He won well at Stratford to open his account and this lightly race six year old has a good opportunity to double the tally here in a weak looking race. Should get the job done with a few question marks over his four rivals
